Dr James Herring lives in Dunbar, Scotland. He is now retired and taught in universities in Scotland and Australia for 34 years. He is the author of 11 books on information literacy, ICT in schools and school libraries. He is an internationally recognised researcher in information literacy in schools and presented papers at conferences in the UK, Australia, USA, Canada, New Zealand, Portugal, South Africa and Greece. Since retiring, James does more cycling, especially in the summer months. He is a keen gardener and has built four stone walls around the front garden. James regularly takes photographs for his (roughly) weekly blog. He is also a keen traveller. James' latest project is an oral and social history of his home town, Dunbar, in the 1950s. This research project has resulted in the publication of a book entitled "The Whales at Thorntonloch in 1950: The Stories of the People Who Were There". A new book "Dunbar in the 1950s: Rationing, Housing, Entertainment, Shops and Shopping" will be published in early 2020. James is a long suffering (i.e through thin and thin) supporter of Hibernian Football Club. .. View all posts by jherring
